Effective July 1, 2024 Digital Communications between school employees and individual students is restricted. In accordance with HB 3958, Lane School employees cannot engage in digital communications with individual students. Any digital messages between an employee and individual students MUST include the students parent(s) or guardians. However, staff members may send out mass communications without including the parent or guardian if the message is sent to a group such as the entire team or class. The staff members have been notified of the new requirements and additional training of staff members will take place at the August 7th-9th in-service meetings. We know this may prompt questions and we will work to provide more clarity soon. Additionally, an update to our Board Policy regarding social media and digital communications, and a direct definition of all District-approved platforms will be coming soon.
